Welcome to Amara Therapy
Our body responds to every moment we experience, either softening and flowing in acceptance or tightening and restricting in protective resistance. We imprint a memory of our experience not only in our subconscious mind but in our body to help avoid repeating trauma. Stress, injury, physical and emotional trauma, or illness can lock us in a pattern of protective holding. Without awareness, we may get stuck in this multi-layered pattern of resistance for extended periods of time.
Pain and discomfort are the body’s signal that we need to let go and soften, but we may have forgotten the way back to freedom. Myofascial Release Therapy uses specialized techniques that allow us to access our subconscious holding patterns and bring them into our conscious awareness. In doing so, we are able to release our resistant hold and reclaim the comfort and peace we deserve.
In letting go, we find the opportunity to reclaim our strength. The GYROTONIC® Method allows us to gently delve into our patterns. Movement allows us to feel more deeply into the body. Areas of disconnect are brought to light and areas of tightness are encouraged to open. As we surrender to the process, we are rewarded with balance, strength, and grace.

John F. Barnes, Healing Ancient Wounds
I am Cindy, the owner of Amara Therapy, a Licensed Massage therapist, Expert Level Myofascial Release Therapist, and GYROTONIC® Level 1 Apprentice.
I am a graduate of Lakeside School of Massage in Milwaukee, WI. My specialty focus is in John F Barnes Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR). The passion I have for this work has enabled me to become an Expert Level MFR Therapist and a leader of the Wisconsin MFR Study Group. In addition, I also have continued education with course work in CranioSacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute and various energetic modalities.
As a GYROTONIC® Level 1 Apprentice, I bring body movement sessions to my practice. I guide clients to improve strength and flexibility, and retrain improper movement patterns. Thus, enabling them to maintain a better balanced posture which in turn helps to decrease pain.
I am also the author of the children’s book, “Feel, Breathe and Imagine.” In the story, I integrate my personal and professional experience, with the hope that my book becomes a bridge to talking about anxiety with children.
Amara Therapy is the culmination of all that I have learned. Healing is a process that takes commitment, courage, and love. MFR has allowed me to experience tremendous results in relieving long-standing pain for clients. GYROTONIC® exercise is another avenue for helping those who deal with chronic pain. It is my passion to support clients to navigate their path to freedom of movement and relief from chronic pain.
