WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY (CST)?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was developed by Osteopathic Physician, John E. Upledger. This therapy addresses a variety of symptoms and conditions, from everyday stress to pain brought about by injury, surgeries, or trauma. A holistic therapy, CST facilitates the body’s natural capacity to heal itself. Therapists use soft touch to evaluate and release restrictions in the tissue surrounding the central nervous system. As a result, the rhythmic pulse of the cerebral spinal fluid, through the craniosacral system, is returned to its normal flow. Consequently allowing the central nervous system to perform optimally. Attending the connection of mind, body, and spirit with a focus on inner wisdom, CranioSacral Therapy brings about an improved state of health and a deep state of relaxation.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During Craniosacral Therapy (CST) sessions, focus will be on releasing tension in the soft tissues protecting the brain and spinal cord. The therapist will monitor for weak flow and/or tissue motion around the skull, sacrum, and spine and apply delicate manual techniques to release problem areas. CST is very gentle and therefore able to be used where other therapies may be contraindicated. Clients will remain fully clothed but remove all jewelry. Blankets will be provided for comfort.
